Making a stop in Athens

with 2 comments

In the journey of life, I will soon be making a stop in the city of ugly “dawg” love to resume what has become somewhat of a college “career”. On May 1st to be exact, I will be moving the party that has come to be known as “the H-Train” to a location in Rivermill Apartments, on Baldwin Street in the city of Athens, GA. I know what you’re thinking. Me, a liberal, Barack Obama loving, tree hugging, clean cut, disease free college student will be entering what I have always known as “the hot zone” for hillbilly culture often personified in George Bush documentaries and comedy routines (note that often times it is hard to differentiate between the two). However, now that I have seemingly conquered the world that is the Florida State University, I feel it is time to begin a new chapter of my life, and I will be saying goodbye for now to one of the grandest places this side of the Mason-Dixie line. As one of my FSU brethren would say, “its been real Tallahassee”.

I decided on this venture after my most recent attempts to lure the fox that is Kristina Brown to my stomping grounds in Tallahassee. Actually, to be more precise, after my most recent attempts to convince said fox’s parents to allow such a move. After what seemed to be a most futile effort, and with the collapse of the American economy as we know it (see Bush comedy routine above) I decided to throw my name into the hat for a chance at admission to (gulp) the University of Georgia.

I know that over the years I have preached that the seats of Sanford Stadium are laced not with college students, but with unspeakable foolery that you you might find at a monster truck rally, a bass master fishing tournament, or a Bush cabinet meeting (I am really laying it on thick for Mr. Bush here, aren’t I?). Unfortunately, I cannot say that some of these preachings have not been warranted or confirmed. However, after visiting the campus several times (bullet proof vest equipped) I can actually assure you that the streets are not in fact painted camouflage, contrary to public opinion. In fact, one of my boys – J$ – assured me that while he certainly has seen his fair share of McCain/Palin stickers, there are in fact plenty of normal, educated people roaming the campus of Georgia. He introduced me to a very pleasant fellow in fact, referred to as “Deuce”, who began to unravel the presumptions of my past. On a side note, J$ showed me a very good time, introducing me to some of the facilities at UGA and giving me a very behind-the-scenes look at Sanford Stadium. Much thanks my friend.

So, while I may never actually be a UGA fan, and you will never here the words “go dawgs, sic em” come out of my mouth, I am now looking forward with cautious optimism to my life anew at UGA. I have found a great apartment with a great roommate Patty Cakes Honan, will be living much closer to foxy K-Brown, will be enjoying the company of some of my closest friends on a more regular basis, and will be saving my parents big time $$$. My dog, Cash Money Millionaire aka Young Money is already sporting a new pink UGA collar and amped up for some new fire hydrants (they do have those in Athens, right?). So, to all the friends and memories I will be leaving behind in Tallahassee, I say thank you and may the thunderous cry of the Seminole spirit lead Bobby Bowden to one more championship. And to all the people in the city of Athens…here we go.

Analyzing fanship amongst “fans”

with 9 comments

A recent incident occurred that led me to analyze the “wacky” fanship habits of some of my friends. Allow me to explain.

As you all know, I bleed garnet and gold. My transferring to the University of Georgia will not change the fact that my first son’s name will be Bobby and my first daughter’s Bowden. You see, becoming a true fan means that nothing can come between you and your team. It means that when your favorite NBA team makes the playoffs for the first time in 9 years and proceeds to take the NBA’s best team to 7 games, you don’t miss game 6 at home for any amount of cost or hardship (shivers down my spine aka greatest night of my life). It means that when your favorite MLB team is in the dumps, refuses to sign the best free agents, allows its veteran icons to leave over a couple million dollars, allows its GM to run the organization like he is Bozo the clown, you stick with them to the bottom of the division (gulp). It means that when your favorite NHL team goes to the playoffs for the first time EVER you sit lower bowl 20 rows behind center court. It means that when your college team plays your friend’s college team for the first time in….forever, you stand by them whether they are favored, seated higher, on a streak, or wearing purple underwear over there neon green stretch pants galloping onto the court on a broom with a sign on it that says “poop”. ESPECIALLY if they are competing in a postseason tournament that only allows 65 of 347 schools to enter. So obviously, you cant even use the excuse (that is what they tell me it is called, I do not recognize the word though. Maybe it is pig latin for I DO NOT PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION) that they have had a bad season, or are not that good.

This was the case with my buddy, Connor Nolte. He is a “die hard” Wisconsin fan and I am a die hard FSU fan. They played each other tonight for maybe the first time ever, maybe not. If they have it is a rarity, I am too pissed about the outcome of the game to do any research. The point is, its a rarity. So, naturally a bet is in order to celebrate this momentous occasion. Just like the occasion when FSU and UW played in last bowl season’s Champs Bowl ( cough 42-13 cough). We had a very weak bet on the line (lunch), but that was all he was willing to put on the line. So, with the announcement of the FSU/Wisconsin match up in this year’s NCAA tournament, naturally, without hesitation, I suggested a double or nothing. An instant no was the reply. “True fan” my ass. He claimed that it would be a stupid bet, that FSU was far superior, and that Wisconsin wasn’t that good. SHOWS HOW MUCH HE KNOWS. I wish he had been right though.

This has led me to analyze some of my other friend’s fanships:

1) James Carr aka J$: The Yankees, Knicks, “Jets”, UConn – Here is the skinny. James claims to have lived in Connecticut (not New York) for some period of his life. I do not know if I actually believe he even lived there. If he did, it was at a very early age and I would be surprised if he was actually a fan while he was there. I wonder if he has ever attended a Knicks game. But I will buy it all, I’ll go with it. So he is a Yankees fan, oh its real hard to cheer the Yankees. But he is also a pretty strong supporter of the Knicks. Why anyone would ever want to be a Knicks fan, I don’t know. So I will allow the two to equal out (this may be voided however if I somehow discover that James and Lebron James have crossed paths at some point during toddler stages). He also claims to be a Jets fan, however, I have never actually seen him cheer for the Jets. On the contrary, I have seen him root AGAINST the Jets to better their draft position. And let me be clear, a true fan NEVER roots against his team to better draft position. ESPECIALLY if it is for KNOWSHON MORENO OR MATT STAFFORD. There are very few cases where there is an exception to this rule (see Lebron James, Shaquille Oneal, Dwight Howard (I cant even think of one for football, maybe Barry Sanders?)). Lastly we have UConn. If not for UConn, I might be able to accept all of the above. BUT when you claim New York teams, and you are not from New York, and then you don’t claim ANY of New York’s college basketball teams so that you can claim basketball powerhouse UConn, your fanship is officially brought into question.

2) Connor Nolte: all teams Wisconsin, specifically the Greenbay Packers…..the Jets? – I have already explained the University of Wisconsin ordeal with Connor, so immediately I know you are troubled here. The next thing we will analyze is Connor’s allegiance to the Packers…I mean the Jets…I mean Brett Favre??? Let me explain. Connor has always given the appearance of being a Packers fan, and I have always gone with it. But recently, with the acquisitions of Brett Favre, he seemed to suddenly become a Jets fan. I think he actually bought a jersey (or a few?). Now, here’s the deal. While it is a bit silly to be a fan one individual player, I will go with it. He meant a lot to the organization and was a huge icon. BUT, just because he leaves “your team” doesn’t mean you jump off the ship and follow him! Might I remind you, HE left the team, the team did not leave him. I am a John Smoltz fan, but I am not going to go be a Red Sox fan now. As a matter of fact, I am pissed at Smoltz for leaving, even if he got the better deal. Loyalty. Get some.

3) Stephen McCloskey: Cowboys, UConn, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Hawks – Ah yes, I saved the best for last. I am fully convinced that Stephen McCloskey became a sports fan in the year 1995. Cowboys won the Super bowl, UConn was Big East basketball runner up, Nebraska won the national championship in football, and Virginia Tech won the Big East in football. One word – embarrassing. To be this type of sports “fan” and consider yourself a “true” sports fan is ridiculous to the point that it pisses me off. In fact, it is an insult to the people who actually consider themselves true fans. You should be ashamed of yourself Stephen Enoch McCloskey.

True fans apparently (or at least in my crowd) are few and far between. I would definitely consider myself a true fan and I am proud of it. One thing that is required to be a true fan is loyalty, and I am loyal to a fault. We ride together, we die together. And it doesnt get any sweeter then that.

The downfall of the Magic Hawks

leave a comment »

At 10 o’clock tonight I traveled to the Tully Gym to watch my team, the Magic Hawks, take the court without me for essentially the second game. As you read in my last blog, I suffered an ankle injury in the opening seconds of our Sweet 16 matchup in the FSU I.M. basketball playoffs. I was forced to the sideline and to the hospital etc. etc. Nearly two weeks later, I was informed that our game was tonight, and not next week as I had been told. So, my team had to take the court without me, as I watched from the bench. It was a pitiful effort really. The score was 12-10 at half time. I repeat, 12-10. It didnt seem like we could hit a shot (they were worse), we had terrible shot selection, and while we improved from the foul line, it was still mediocre. Worst of all, we were missing two key players (other then myself) – Cole, and Lou. One of the things I hate the most are people that make comitments and then fail to keep them. Lou had a somewhat valid excuse, as he claimed to be working. But I do not know why he would schedule to work then. Cole – I have no idea, but I hope he has a good excuse. I can guarentee right now, if we had either of those 2 players we would have won the game (we lost 30-28). I think I could also have tipped the scale in our favor as well, and for that I am pissed at this excuse for an ankle.

Breaking ankles and taking names

leave a comment »

As you all know, Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA. I recently came across a link of his that was both mind numbing and the most amazing marketing ploy Nike has ever come up with. Here is the link. As you can see Nike has come up with the brilliant idea that if you don’t buy Kobe’s new shoe, you are going to need to buy Ankle Insurance. For which, Kobe is the CEO, CFO, CMO and President of. I thought this was hilarious and posted it on several of my friends facebook walls.

Now for the funny/ironic part.

An hour after I saw this and showed it to several friends I was headed to the second round of the FSU I.M. Basketball playoffs, of which my team the Magic Hawks were participating in. I was decked out in my black Snoop Dogg shirt, and my low cut black basketball shoes. Black on black on black on black for intimidation purposes. I started at the one guard and upon winning the tip my teammate B-Mull proceeded to pass me the ball, at which point, I decided to drive to the basket with a fury. I split two defenders but on the way up I then completely rolled my ankle over the guys foot, heard a pop, and fell to the floor (I wish I could say I made the basket, but unfortunately I cannot). I then proceeded to go to the hospital for X-Rays and upon review it was determined that I had a severe ankle sprain and am out 3-6 weeks on crutches. It looks as if I will miss our 3rd round game (yes we won even without me, and are in the Elite 8).

Needless to say, I wish I had bought my ankle insurance.

NFL Draft Thoughts

leave a comment »

Stafford vs Sanchez: I don’t like either of these guys as a franchise quarterback. I was very unimpressed with Stafford’s ability to shine in the spotlight last year, and I HATE that Sanchez did not stay another year. Of the two underclassmen I think Sanchez definitely had the most to gain by staying another year, but that is not to say Stafford did not. I give the upper hand to Stafford because he has better arm strength, has more upside, and if you are going to go to a team like Detroit…you are going to want the guy with more experience – because he will be starting on Day 1. I don’t blame either guy for going early, I might have done the same, but I do not think either guy is worthy of a top 3 pick. Then of course, I wasn’t sold on Matt Ryan last year. What do I know?

Underrated:

Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech: This guy is a phsyical specimen. If he does not go in the top 10 any team that gets him will be getting a straight steal.

Rey Mauluga LB USC: I love this guy. He is a mix of a smaller Ray Lewis and Troy Polamalu for me (huge names, I know). He was a great college player and his only weakness is that he is prone to injury. I can see him being a force for years if he can stay healthy

Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forrest: The ACC’s all time leader in interceptions has not been getting the credit he deserves. Yes, he is undersized, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in speed, skill and swagger. Love that kid. FSU will be glad to see him gone.

Guys who had great combines:

Chris Clemons DB Clemson

Darrius Heyward Bey WR Maryland

Vontae Davis CB Illinois

Rated right where they need to be:

Aaron Curry LB Wake Forrest: I am glad I have been seeing this guy around the top of most draft boards. He is worthy of a top 3 pick, even #1.

Knowshon Moreno RB UGA: I am also glad to see Knowshon is not being predicted to go in the top 10. He is and will be a decent skill player in the NFL. But, I think he is undersized for the new prototype NFL running back.

Be careful here:

Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech: I am worried about this injury. I know it is minor, and will probably mean nothing. BUT when you are going to spend most likely a top 10 pick on anyone, every little thing matters. Also, Texas Tech played a very pass happy system which most certainly inflated Crabtree’s numbers. I am not saying he isn’t good, because he is. He is a gamer and that catch vs. Texas to win it was one of my favorite plays of the season last year. But look at Graham Harrell and what he is doing in the combine and at the senior bowl – its not that great. Maybe Crabtree is using the injury a little bit to divert the attention away from the possibility that he might not be as good as the hype just like Harrell? Maybe. Probably not. Who knows?

Andre Smith OL Alabama: He is injury prone. I think it is pretty easy to see that any career he will have will be plagued by injury. Buyer beware.

Overrated:

Michael Jenkins CB OSU: Easily the most overrated player at his position in the draft. He has been having a TERRIBLE combine most notably his 40 time at 4.6something. If you are drafting this guy to be your #1 corner and are lining him up with the best receiver in the NFL, he will get burned every time if he is running a 4.6. (Side note, Jenkins teammate in the secondary Darius Washington has been doing the opposite of Jenkins and has been having a GREAT combine. He had a decent 40, the best broad jump, and the best vert at 45 inches! Wow.)

Percy Harvin WR UF: He’s quick, he has good hands, and he makes good plays. But he is undersized, and he played in a system tailor built for him and Tebow. Watch what happens when his tiny, injury prone body runs across the middle on Ray Lewis, or deep against Troy Palomalu. Welcome to the NFL.

Who knows:

1) Pat White QB West Virginia: I love this guy, but I really dont know how he is going to fair in the NFL, as has been the main topic of conversation regarding him. Those who have questioned his arm strength and accuracy certainly have had to second guess themselves after watching him at the combine. But there is no prototype for his type of skill and body type in the NFL. I am a little more optimistic about him. I think he could go just fine in the NFL.

So, all that to say this – here is my top 10 considering 1) need 2) who has already been taken and 3) who I think is best. All of this mixed for my top 10, although not a total prediction for the draft. I think its pretty safe to say Stafford is going 1 or 3. Obviously, I dont feel like he deserves it so I am being stubborn.

1. Detroit - Jason Smith OT Baylor. This is the safe, and right pick. The Lions need help on both sides of the ball, but I think it is harder to fix the offense, so I think you have to go offense here. I don’t like either QB at #1 here, and they have a good young running back in Kevin Smith, and WR in Calvin Johnson. So, the obvious pick here is O-Line. I do not like Andre Smith at #1 because I am concerned about injuries, just like I was concerned about Sam Baker last ear, and I was right. I also like Eugene Monroe here, but I will do with Smith because he is a little more athletic and that is the type of O-Lineman they are going to need in Detroit the next couple years. However, look for them to be back at #1 next year as they still will not have a QB at which time they will be drafting Sam Bradford.

2. St. Louis - Eugene Monroe OL Virginia – Rams are also in need of help on both sides of the ball. Again, I think it is harder to fix offense then defense so I will go offense again, and again neither Stafford or Sanchez make the cut. So I will be going with Monroe.

3. Kansas City - Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forrest – I think Kansas City would be getting a steal here at 3. A lot of draft boards having him going #1. If he slips down to 3 I think KC would be silly to pass up on this kid. He has been having an amazing combine and is the best all around player in the draft. Great mix of speed, size, and athleticism. Did work against my boys at FSU (as a matter of fact the whole WF defense did (5 ints)). Also from what I have read, he is a great guy to have in the locker room, great team player.

4. Seattle - Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri – This is where the first WR WILL be taken. It is just a matter of who. Most boards have Crabtree going ahead of Maclin, and I think that Crabtree will actually go before Maclin, but I think it is a risk that’s not worth taking. There are too many good wide receivers in this draft to take a risk at that position. Heck, Maclin isnt even the clear cut “#2″ if you consider Crabtree the real #1. I think Darrius Heyward-Bey jumped about 10 spots because of his combine performance and Hakeem Nicks is a bonafied baller. If Nicks were playing for USC or some other big name school we would be talking about him going in the top 3. I think Maclin is a safe pick though, and he will also bring an added dimension to Seattle of his exceptional kick returning skills.

5. Cleveland -Matt Stafford QB UGA – This is a dangerous pick for Cleveland. As I am typing this I am second guessing it. The Browns need consistency at QB, and I am not sure Stafford is the answer. But, it is a glaring need for Cleveland, and barring them signing someone in free agency i.e. Byron Leftwich I don’t see them not taking a QB here. They will take the top QB on the board, and it just happens to be Stafford. Need will outweigh the worthiness of a top 5 pick for Stafford. Lucky him.

6. Cincinnati - Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech – For me, Crabtree is a risky pick. Medium risk, high reward. It just so happens Cincinnati has been known to take some risks in the past…OK a lot of risks. They need a WR as T.J. Hoosh is almost certainly headed to Philly (def not staying in Cincinnati), you never know what you are going to get with Ocho Cinco, and Henry is in and out of jail. So Carson Palmer (poor guy) is going to need someone to throw to. Hopefully Crabtree can stay healthy.

7. Oakland - Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland – Oakland was second to last in receiving yards last year and would love to get either Maclin or Crabtree, but with both of them gone they go with the next best receiver which, after an amazing combine, I think would have to be Bey. See 4.23 40 time.

8. Jacksonville - Michael Oher OL Ole Miss – Pretty simple here, Jacksonville need O-Line help and will take the next best man. Again, Andre Smith’s injury should/will turn off teams interest and will go with the safer pick. Oher is certainly not much of a downgrade though from a healthy Smith.

9. Green Bay - Michael Jenkins CB OSU – Ok. Here is what I think is going to happen, but it is DEFINITLY not what I think SHOULD happen. I think Brian Orakpo of Texas or Michael Johnson of GT would be a MUCH better pick. But, reputation will proceed ability here for Jenkins and should he still be here at 9, that is where he is going.

10. San Francisco - Mark Sanchez QB USC – Should Sanchez fall this far, and it is certainly a possibility as the only other places he could go are 3 and 5, I would find it hard to believe the 49ers will not take this California boy. The 49ers need help at QB as Alex Smith turned out to be a disaster. I am not happy about this pick, but more likely to happen. Either Johnson or Orakpo would be a much better value pick.

These guys can roll with me ANY day

with one comment

5. Terrance Williams –

NCAA Louisville Tennessee Basketball

This guy plays with more determination then anyone in the game. I love watching him take it to the hoop, and he sure makes himself look good doing it. He is the X factor on my sleeper team (if you can even call them a sleeper team anymore). Look for this kid to do big things at the next level, I dont care what the critics say.

4 – Toney Douglas

73464161DB010_ACC_Men_s_Bas

This is my shout out to FSU basketball. The program has one of the bigger upsides of any program in the country. Coach Leonard Hamilton has done an amazing job of recruiting. Unfortunately, Toney Douglas wont be around after next year to take them there. When I think of Toney Douglas one word comes to mind: swagger. He has some of the best handles in the ACC. Coach K basically told the media you cant stop him, you just have to try and slow him down. Big props from the best coach in the league. He is a rock defensively as well, but has had some problems with getting into his rhythm. But once he gets there watch out: just call him Mr. Clutch.

3 – Jonny Flynn

medium_110707subasket5dn

Flynn reminds me a lot of Nate Robinson of the Knicks. This kid loves to play the game, and is a lot of fun to watch. He is one of the quickest guys I’ve ever seen. I considered putting Ty Lawson in this spot after I just watched him shred the Duke D, but I refuse to put a Tar Heel in MY fave 5. Flynn’s ups are absolutely ridiculous. He turns the ball over too much, but he has also been playing on a team that has been plagued with injuries. So he hasn’t been on the floor with comparable talent like almost every other team in the Big East. If you aren’t sold on Flynn, check out this dunk. It is one of the sickest nuts in the mouth dunk I have ever seen.Nothing more needs to be said.

2 – Stephen Curry

curry_lecka_400

What is there to say about this kid that has not already been said? He is the best big game player since JJ Redick, maybe bigger. Those of you who know me know that this is a tremendous compliment. He plays the game the way it is supposed to be played – with class. He lets his game do the talking, and boy does he. Is there a shot he cant make? Is there a team too tough? Is there a situation he can’t handle? Too be brief – no. I love this kid, and I can’t wait to see what he does in New York with Lebron. I won’t put a youtube highlight film, you’ve all seen them.

1. Kyle Singler

2263471305_2dc2cb7327

Singler has the best all around game in college basketball. Not Griffin, not Hansborawoman, not Thabeet. Kyle Singler. This kid literally has ice water flowing through his veins. Seriously. He doesnt appear to be human. Look at his eyes next time he is eyeballing someone and you know its all ice. He doesnt get tired, he never backs down, he hits all the big shots, he rips down all of the big boards. He has some of the most unexpected moves you will ever see out of a person with his body type. I love watching my Dookies, and Singler is running s*** for that team.

Notes, Honorable Mentions, and Omissions:

1) This is not a list of best players. This is a list of my favorite players. Also, I wanted to think outside of the box a little, and not go with the easy picks like Thabeet or Blake.

2) Ty Lawson is a beast. Were he to be in a Duke uniform he would be at #1. Quite frankly any other uniform. So, that gives you some indication of my respect for his game.

3) I know the formatting is messed up. I have given up trying to mess with it.

A-Fraud, the Yankees, and juicing (a big pile of karma)

with 4 comments

I am not surprised with the recent news that Alex Rodriguez tested postive for some type of banned drug. Not at all. I have figured for a long time that he probably experimented, if not regularly used some type of performance enhancing drug. In fact, nothing involving steroids and baseball would surprise me. If you were to tell me that 95% of everyone in baseball from around 1996-2003 used, I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest. There are certain players that you would say, there is no way he ever used. I say, like who? A friend of mine has suggested Jeter. He worships this man and would probably sacrifice any number of his limbs at Jeter’s command. But quite frankly, at this point I have to assume he has used. Look at his team, the Yankees in general. Giambi, Pettite, Clemens, A-Rod – all teammates of Jeter, and all have tested positive. Is there a coincidence there? I doubt it. This only goes to further my theory that the Yankees, and everything the Yankees do are bad for baseball. But that is neither here nor there.  I am trying to think of some players who couldnt have taken anything, and the only player that comes to mind is Ichiro – and even that wouldnt surprise me. Even turning to my team, the Braves in an effort to appear like I am not taking favorites, I look at players like Chipper and Smoltz and while it would break my heart if an A-Rod story came out about them, again, it wouldnt surprise me. And I am quite certain Andruw “Cupcakes” Jones juiced. I supposed it would surprise me if Maddux juiced, but who knows.

UGA fires coach midseason, shows more lack of character

leave a comment »

Breaking news out of UGA is that head basketball coach Dennis Felton has been fired after starting conference play 0-5. This comes less then a year after winning a conference title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. He is the second SEC basketball coach to be fired this week, following Alabama’s Mark Gottfried. I am going to disregard the fact that Felton just WON HIS CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP because I think there is a larger problem here. I have a legitimate problem with college coaches being fired in the middle of a season. It is not fair to the team, fans, players, the university, or the coach. More importantly, this is sending the wrong message about what college athletic programs are all about. What are you telling people when you teach your kids that it is OK not to honor a commitment, or to finish what you started? What are you telling people when you give up on someone who has worked tirelessly to rebuild a crumbling program? What are you telling these young, impressionable kids, when you tell them winning is everything – more important then academics, more important then loyalty, more imprtant then family, and more important then keeping faith. Not only do I strongly disagree with the firing of Dennis Felton, I am disgusted with any college program that fires their coach midseason. If you have to fire a coach do it after the season, even the day after the last game. Give them at least the year (to possibly make a run at ANOTHER championship) and allow recruits and fans time to recoup and transition. College sports should not be run like a business. I believe that the most important priorities in college athletics are 1) Academics 2) Building character and THEN 3) Winning games. UGA has some serious character issues across their entire athletic program. This is just another example of a poorly run program. My school, FSU, had some similar character problems and it hired a new athletic director, a former colonel in the United States Air Force, and things have gone smoothly since. Maybe that is what UGA needs, a new athletic director, maybe amilitary man, who can instill some discipline and priorities in his players and staff – but it has to start with him.

Streak for the Cash update AKA TEAM J&H-Money

with 4 comments

I mentioned Streak for the Cash on ESPN in an earlier post, but for those who have not seen it, it is a game on ESPN where if you correctly pick 27 straight sports games you win a million dollars. I have come a little short, but I think the game is a good indication of the REAL sports ballers out there. Hans and James (who happen to be the ultimate tag team for just about everything i.e. see 27-0) are a combined 24-20. This might seem mediocre at best, but when you consider the rest of the people in our group (Greg, Will, Connor, Jason, Robert) are 34-44. Most notably Jason and Greg are 1-6. Add another point to Hans’ tally from that argument with Jason a while back.

In summation, Hans is, again, never wrong. And Jmoney is killin it.
